Katakai (片貝町 Katakai-machi) is a location within the city of Ojiya, Niigata Prefecture, Japan.
The 800-year-old fireworks festival is held in early September. They shoot the world's largest 1.20 m balls, 800 m wide fireworks explosions, usually lasting around three hours.
The event is sponsored by the local population.
